4 health issues you should be prepared for during spring

Spring season is here! We're sure you're enjoying the cool breeze, and have already packed away your winter clothes. You are probably gearing up to indulge in all the seasonal fruits, veggies and dishes made from them as well.

But here's something you should be aware of. While spring can bring a spring in your step, like every season change, it poses a number of health risks.

You might not notice that stuffiness in your nose, the itch in your throat or the little rash on your arm, but all these can get worse in no time if you don't take care. Here are some of the common ailments that happen during spring season:

Allergies
Spring is the season when allergens roam freely. The biggest triggers are pollen, which all plants shed at this point to fertilise the soil. Everything from a rash to a sneeze series can indicate that you have an allergy. Don't confuse it with a cold, because while that may go away, your allergic reaction will stay till you're in contact with the allergens.

Common cold
You might think that common cold is only common during winters, but that's not true. Spring is, in fact, the peak time for rhinovirus (the most common viral infectious agent in humans) infections. Not only are you more likely to catch the common cold at this time, but it can also spread to others very easily during this season.

Nasal and chest congestion
With the temperatures fluctuating during spring season, you might also fluctuate between feeling sweaty or too chilly. These fluctuations stop your body's temperature from stabilising, and can lead to respiratory issues. Stuffy nose, chest congestion, and cough can easily plague you.

Headaches
The coming of spring means rising temperatures. But if you are one of those people who are already feeling too hot and have switched your air conditioner on already, stop right there. The difference in temperatures near your AC and outside is inevitable going to lead to headaches, so, beware. Let your body get used to spring first, then worry about summer heat.
