Country's 80% banks fail to handle the incidents of cyber attacks as those suffer the shortage of skilled and efficient manpower.
According to a research report of Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIMB), online banking is increasingly becoming popular but there are 11 challenges in managing the disaster or accident in online banking.
The report said: "80% banks lack skilled manpower and coordination between general banking section and ICT section while 54% banks have the shortage of fund for data disaster management."
Associate Professor of BIBM Sihab Uddin Khan presented the report at a workshop titled "Disaster Recovery Management in Online Banks: Challenge and Remedial Measures" at BIBM auditorium on Thursday.
He said: "Bangladesh Bank has prepared a guideline which will have to be implemented properly to protect the interest of the clients of banks."
BIBM conducted the survey on 27 commercial banks--20 private, two state-owned, two specialized and three foreign banks.
