The High Court has halted the recruitment tests for senior officers, officers and cash officers of Sonali, Rupali and Janata banks.
The examinations were scheduled to hold on January 12.
The bench of Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice JBM Hassan came up with the order after hearing a writ petition challenging last year’s job circulars issued by eight banks.
Advocate Rashedul Haque Khokon and Advocate Tanzim Al Islam appeared for the writ petitioners while Deputy Attorney General Motaher Hossain Sazu took part in the hearing for the state.
In response to the petition, the High Court also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain why they should not be directed to hold the recruitments tests as per the circulars issued in 2016 before holding the tests on the basis of the circulars issued in 2017.
According to the writ petition, the authorities of Bangladesh Bank has issued a combined circular on December 26 in 2017 for recruitments in the eight state-run banks without holding the tests according to the 2016 circular.
