BD to join Japan IT Week to attract investment

Bangladesh is participating in `Japan IT Week 2018', the largest annual business platform for IT professionals, to be held in Tokyo Big Sight tomorrow projecting country's IT investment friendly environment to attract foreign investment. 

About 91,000 professional visitors and 1700 exhibitors, covering various sectors of IT ranging from microprocessors to latest applications, are expected to assemble at the 3-day Week, an official release said today.

A 45-member team, including an 8-member government delegation headed by Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar will attend the annual event in Japan, said officials of the ICT Division. 

Project Director of Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) of ICT Division Md. Rezaul Karim who is a member of the government delegation said the minister will hold a series of meeting with the top brass of two Japan ministries, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and big companies of ICT sector. 

The IT Week will contain 13 specialized exhibitions including a brand new Artificial Intelligent (AI) show and 57 thought provoking conferences including a Bangladesh seminar titled `Digital Bangladesh: Your IT Destination', he said.

Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Director (Training) Md Enamul Kabir who is also accompanying the minister said there will be `in booth' seminar where various IT related presentation from Bangladesh will be delivered every day during the IT week.

The interesting part is that the Bangladesh's presentation has been prepared in Japanese language and a Japanese interpreter will be there to describe Bangladesh's development in the ICT sector, he said.

Enamul said the government will showcase and highlight the initiatives undertaken and already-implemented initiatives that have created an enabling environment for investment in ICT sector. The 15 private firms will also showcase their IT products and solutions through the Bangladesh pavilion at the IT week.
