Kalerkantho is trying to produce objective news for readers at home and abroad, says Kalerkantho Executive Editor Mostofa Kamal.

Kalerkantho Executive Editor Mostofa Kamal came up with the comments while addressing a programme on the daily’s eighth founding anniversary celebration held at the International Convention City Bashundhara in the capital today.

Noting that a newspaper's main strength is its readership, he further said: “We are trying to present new Kalerkantho to the readers every day."

While speaking in the programme he also said: “Kalerkantho has raised its voice on behalf of the oppressed people always.”

Pointing to its online version, Mostofa Kamal said: “The Daily Kalerkantho has become the leading online newspaper in the country, according to Alexa’s Traffic Ranking.”

The eighth founding anniversary celebration of Kalerkantho, one of the leading Bangla daily newspapers in the country, has been kicked off yesterday night with cutting the cake.

Bashundhara Group Vice-Chairman-1 Shafiat Sobhan, Bashundhara Group Vice-Chairman-2 Safwan Sobhan and son of Sayem Sobhan Anvir, managing director of East West Media Group Limited (EWMGL) and Bashundhara Group, Oalid Sobhan, have inaugurated the activities of the eighth founding anniversary celebration.

They cut a giant cake at the Conference Room of EWMGL in the capital’s Bashundhara Residential area around 8:30pm.

Kalerkantho Editor Imdadul Haq Milon, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, Kalerkantho Executive Editor Mostofa Kamal and Daily Sun Editor (acting) Enamul Hoque Chowdhury, were present, among others, in the cake-cutting ceremony.

With other scheduled programmes on the day, some Kalerkantho journalists will be honoured for their outstanding performance over the years around 3pm while on behalf of the organization, 15 freedom fighters will also be given a reception at 4pm.

On January 10, 2010, with a slogan of “Angshik Noy Puro Sotto” (Full truth, not partial), Kalerkantho has started its journey.

The national daily, however, has earned a huge popularity among the readers from home and abroad with its objective and investigative journalism.
