All registered political parties will take part in the next general election to help upholding the country's democratic processes, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expresses her firm conviction on Friday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina came up with the conviction while addressing the nation, marking the beginning of the fifth and the last year of her government's successive second term in office.

She said: “The next parliamentary election will be held in line with the Constitution by the end of 2018.”

While addressing the nation, she also said: “A poll-time government will be formed before the next general election in the country.”

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina delivered her speech at 7:30 pm today.

The address was aired simultaneously on Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar as well as on private TV channels and radio stations.

In her speech, like previous years, the premier has highlighted the major achievements of the government and drew the priority agenda for the next year toward her ceaseless and strong endeavor to make Bangladesh a prosperous country.

During the address, Sheikh Hasina said: “The incumbent Awami League-led government will go ahead evaluating its success and failure of the past.”

On January 12 in 2014, she formed the government for the second consecutive term after a landslide victory in the election to the 10th Jatiya Sangsad.
