A total of 1,135 books, including ninth day’s 344 books, hit the book fair. Friday’s book fair began at 11am and ended at 9 pm as it was the holiday.

The books on research (6), rhyme (14), children literature (15), biography (6), compiled edition of book (2), Liberation War (6), drama (3), science (2), travelogue (6), history (12), medicine and health (3), riddle ( 1), religion (2), translation (2), dictionary (1), science fiction (5) and others (21) have been published.               

Publishers from across the country are exhibiting a huge number of books on different issues while Bangla Academy is exhibiting 141 newly printed and reprinted books,  reports UNB.

Children celebrated the Ekushey Book Fair Shishu Prohor (special time schedule for the children) again on Friday from 11am to 1pm.

Children can have another day with Ekushey Book Fair celebrating Shishu Prohor on Saturday (10th day) at the same time.  

A children painting competition was held as part of the Shishu Prohor celebration inaugurated by artist Nisar Hossain. 

A discussion programme on Rashid Uddin, Ukil Munsi and Bari Siddiqi was held with Suman Kumar Das presenting the keynote speech. Kamal Uddin Kabir and Siaman Zakir discussed the function with Nurul Haque in the chair.   

On the other hand, regular discussion on Robi Guh, Munir Choudhury, and Sradar Fazlul Karim will be held with Mofidul Haque and M M Akash presenting the keynote speech. Begum Akhter kamal, Ajay das Gupta, and Pias Majid will discuss while sanjida Akter will preside over the session.

Regular seminars are being arranged at the main stage of the fair at 4pm every day from February 2 to 28 followed by cultural events.

As in recent years, the venue of the fair has been extended to nearby Suhrawardy Udyan with some changes.

The authorities have allotted a total of 719 units - 136 at the Bangla Academy ground to 92 organizations and 583 at the Suhrawardy Udyan to 363 organizations.

There are strict security arrangements in and around the book fair venue to avert any unpleasant incident during the fair.

A newly launched website and apps provide the information about the fair while Publishers from across the country are exhibiting a huge number of books on different issues while Bangla Academy is exhibiting 141 newly printed and reprinted books.

Awards in different categories will be handed over to the publishing houses on the closing day of the book fair.
