It is impossible to bring changes to the existing 30 percent quota for freedom fighters in the government service sector, says Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Sheikh Hasina, and also the ruling Awami League President, came up with the comment while addressing a question-answer session at the National Parliament on Thursday evening.
“Any change to the existing 30 percent quota fixed for the freedom fighters in the government service is not possible now due to the court verdict given in this connection,” she told the Jatiya Sangsad.
“When in a verdict, the High Court has already decided that the freedom fighters’ quota will stay in the government job entrance, how can we go against this court verdict?” she inquired.
While responding to questions in the parliament she also said: “As it is now continuing, the vacant posts under quotas will be fulfilled with candidates from the merit list.”
“This time the parliament is much more convenient than before and no embarrassing situation was created in the parliament,” she further said.
