Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda today said that the decision on election schedule would be informed by November 4.
KM Nurul Huda made the comment while briefing journalists after a meeting with President Abdul Hamid held at Bangabhaban on Thursday afternoon (today).
The CEC was accompanied by four election commissioners during the meeting. KM Nurul Huda led the five-member delegation of election commissioners into Bangabhaban in the capital around 4pm.
Overall preparation for the upcoming election and the announcement of its schedule are discussed during the meeting.
While briefing reporters he also hoped that all political parties would join the upcoming national polls.
Earlier yesterday, Election Commission Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed informed journalists that the election schedule for the upcoming national polls would be announced by next one week.
“This election is very much important for the nation and 80 percent of preparation for the election is completed,” he added.
The Election Commission secretary earlier said the authorities concerned are planning to arrange the 11th national election by December this year.
“The authorities concerned are making preparations to introduce Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) in 100 electoral constituencies in the upcoming national polls,” he told reporters in his earlier briefing.
It is noteworthy that there is a legal obligation to hold the national election from October 30 to January 28.
