Election Commission Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed today said that no political party or candidate can start their election campaigns before November 30.
“The political parties have been barred from polls campaigning before the date as the electoral symbols will be distributed on the day (Nov 30),” Helal Uddin Ahmed added.
The EC official made disclosure while talking to reporters at the Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital this morning.
Earlier, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has announced the national election schedule for the country’s 11th parliamentary election Thursday evening.
According to the polls schedule, the national election will be held on December 23 this year.
The CEC said: “The aspirants will have to submit their nomination papers by November 19 while the nomination papers will be scrutinized on November 22.”
“The deadline to withdraw the nomination forms is November 29,” he said in the 15-minute speech began around 7pm on the day.
