Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda yesterday said that the Election Commission on Monday would take the decision whether the schedule for the 11th parliamentary elections will be shifted or not.
The CEC made the comment while talking with reporters at Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital’s Agargaon area on the day.
He said: “We got no application regarding the change in polls schedule till now. The decision will be informed on Monday.”
Earlier on November 8, the chief Election Commissioner has announced the national election schedule for the country’s 11th parliamentary election.
According to the polls schedule, the national election was set to be held on December 23 this year.
The CEC in his nationwide televised speech also said: “The aspirants will have to submit their nomination papers by November 19 while the nomination papers will be scrutinized on November 22.”
“The deadline to withdraw the nomination forms is November 29,” he said in the 15-minute speech began around 7pm on the day.
