Chiefs of the three services today called on President Abdul Hamid on the occasion of the Armed Forces Day at Bangabhaban in the capital.
President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin has confirmed the news.
Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed and chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat met President Hamid around 12pm.
“The President discussed various issues related to the armed forces during the meeting,” Joynal Abedin told journalists after the meeting.
President Abdul Hamid has greeted every member of the armed forces on the occasion of the Armed Forces Day today.
Earlier, M Abdul Hamid has also paid tribute to the members of Armed Forces, who made their supreme sacrifices during the War of Liberation, by placing a wreath at the Shikha Anirban in Dhaka Cantonment this morning on the occasion of the Armed Forces Day.
On this day during the War of Liberation in 1971, the Bangladesh Armed Forces comprising Army, Navy and Air Force, came into being and launched an all-out attack on the Pakistani occupation forces.
After the independence of the country, this historic day is observed as the Armed Forces Day every year in the country.
