Bangladesh have won the toss and elected to bat first against South Africa in the practice game on Thursday at Bloemfontein, ahead of the ODI series opener at the De Beers Diamond Oval in Kimberley on October 15.

Captain Mashrafe Mortaza and allrounder Shakib Al Hasan join the Bangladesh squad ahead of the three-match ODI series while injured opener Tamim Iqbal is missing out the today’s match for Tigers.

The hamstring injury has forced Tamim Iqbal out of the second Test against South Africa but the management is confident the opener would recover in time for the ODI series, to be started on October 15.

Earlier South Africa have thrashed Bangladesh by an innings and 254 runs on the third day of the second and final test at Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein on October 8.

Against the visitors, South Africa thus complete a 2-0 whitewash in test series.

Bangladesh, however, in the tour match, will gear up for the three-match ODI series, their most preferred format.

Paarl and East London will host the second and third ODIs respectively on October 18 and 22.

After being thrashed by South Africa in Test series, Mushfiqur Rahim's Test captaincy may come in for some serious consideration once the team is back home and get ready for their series against the Sri Lankans shortly.
