Tamim Iqbal has been ruled out of the remainder of the South Africa tour after aggravating a thigh injury. The 28-year-old will return home on October 22 and will not partake in the third ODI and the two ensuing T20Is.
Tamim sustained the injury to his left thigh during a practice session in Benoni ahead of the tour.
He is understood to have played the first Test in Potchefstroom with pain and carried the injury into the ODI series, where he aggravated it. Tamim now faces a race against time to play the Bangladesh Premier League.
He is certain to miss at least the first two weeks of the domestic T20 tournament.
Bangladesh Cricket Board have asked Mominul Haque to stay on with the squad until the end of the T20Is as Tamim's replacement. Earlier on tour, Bangladesh lost the services of left-arm quick Mustafizur Rahman after an anke injury ruled him out of action. Mustafizur has since been replaced in the squad by Shafiul Islam.
