Bangladesh Test and T20 captain Shakib Al Hasan reached the Thai capital Bangkok on Monday for the treatment of his left hand little finger injury which he suffered during fielding against Sri Lanka in the Tri-nation ODI series final in Mirpur on January 27.
After the incident, the world-famed all-rounder was sidelined for the remaining Test and T20 home series against Sri Lanka giving captaincy to Mahmudullah Riyad.
Shakib is reportedly made appointment with two orthopedic surgeons in Bangkok and expected to return home before the Sri Lanka tour to play the tri-nation T20 ‘Nidahas Trophy’ in Colombo, also involving India and Sri Lanka.
Due to the finger injury, Shakib will also miss the Tigers’ first match of the Nidahas Trophy against India on March 8 where Mahmudullah will lead Bangladesh.
But, the BCB is very much hopeful that Shakib will accompany the Bangladesh team in Sri Lanka on March 4.
