Citing personal reasons, Bangladesh’s ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has pulled out his name from the ICC World XI for a charity match against West Indies at Lord’s later this month.
However, sources said Shakib withdrew his name from the World XI squad ahead of the T20 series against Afghanistan which is scheduled to start from June 3 while the World XI match against the West Indies will be held on May 31 in England.
Currently, Shakib is busy with IPL matches as playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. It will be tedious flying for England to join world XI and coming back to lead Bangladesh in three-match T20 international series against Afghanistan from June 3 to June 7 in India.
“As it’s too much cricket ahead, and after completing the IPL, I have decided to take rest and skip the World XI match,” said Shakib.
Shakib was expected to join Tamim Iqbal in the charity match between World XI and West Indies to raise funds for stadiums damaged by Hurricane last year.
