A dominant Bangladesh women team sailed into the final of the women's Asia Cup Twenty20 tournament with a 70-run win against the host Malaysia in their last league match of the ACC T20 Asia Cup at the Kinrara Oval in Kuala Lumpur today.
Electing to bat after winning the toss, Bangladesh set a target of 131 for the host. Opener Shamima Sultana was the best of the Bangladeshi batter scoring 43 runs and Ayasha Rahman contributed 22 runs. Fahima Khatun made 26 runs off just 12 deliveries.
For Malaysia, Duraisingam took two wickets for 19 runs while Sasha Azmi picked one wicket.
Chasing the target, Malaysia were restricted to 60 for nine in the allotted 20 overs.
Bangladeshi bowler Rumana Ahmed took three wickets for just 8 runs while Jahanara Alam, Salma Khatun, Nahida Akter and Khadija Tul Kubra picked one wicket each.
Shamima Sultana was judged Player of the Match for her excellent performance.
In the tomorrow’s final, Bangladesh will face India whom they have beaten earlier in the tournament.
