Tigresses made the history beating India by 3 wickets to clinch the seventh title of T20 Asia Cup for the first time at Kinrara Academy Oval stadium in Kuala Lumpur today.
Winning the toss Bangladesh invited India to bat first.
India managed to score 112 runs for 9 wickets in the 20-over match. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur made a 56-run innings that helped the team to accelerate the score while Mithali Raj and Veda Krishnamurthy scored 11 runs each.
In reply, Bangladesh chased the target in the last ball with 3 wickets remaining. Bangladeshi batter Nigar Sultana scored 27 runs off 24 balls with four eye-catching boundaries while Rumana Ahmed and Ayesha Rahman contributed 23 and 17 runs respectively.
Khadija Tul Kubra and Rumana Ahmed took 2 wickets each for Bangladesh side.
Bangladesh’s Rumana Ahmed has been awarded player of the final for her outstanding all-round performance.
Earlier, the girls showed their power with a 7-wicket victory against strong India, who have won all six editions of the Asia Cup.
They also have beaten Pakistan, Thailand and host Malaysia to sail into the final of the women's Asia Cup T20 tournament.
