JL leader jailed for trying to rape Rohingya woman

A local Jubo League leader has been sentenced to 45 days in prison for attempting to rape a Rohingya woman in Palongkhali union under Ukhia upazila of Cox's Bazar.

Confirming the news, Palongkhali union-unit Awami League President MA Manjur said: "The convict, Sohrab Uddin Bulu, 30, is a former president of the union-unit Jubo League."

According to the members of law enforcement agencies, Bhulu was caught red-handed while trying to violate a Rohingya woman at Thaingkhali Shafiullah Kata slum on Friday night. 

Later, Ukhia upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and also the Executive Magistrate, Nooruddin Mohammad Shiblee, sentenced the criminal to 45 days in Jail. 

Earlier, an NGO staff member was held while trying to rape another Rohingya girl in the district.
