Finance Minister AMA Muhith today said that the reply to the legal notice served by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be given through legal procedures.
AMA Muhith came up with the reply while addressing an inaugural programme held at the Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU) this morning.
On December 20, BNP has sent a legal notice to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina alleging that the premier made defamatory remarks on party chief Khaleda Zia.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the disclosure of the legal notice at a press briefing in the party’s Nayapaltan central office in the capital on the day morning.
Fakhrul said: "The notice demanded an unconditional apology from the PM for her remarks against Khaleda Zia and her family members within 30 days. Otherwise, the party will file a defamation suit."
He further said: "We warned that BNP will take legal action if the Awami League leaders fail to prove the allegations that the PM brought against our party chief and her family during a press conference. As they could not show any authentic document in this regard, we sent the legal notice on Tuesday."
Recently, quoting a report of a foreign Media, a number of news outlets in Bangladesh published a news on Khaleda Zia and her family members over the alleged involvement with overseas investment.
Responding the legal notice Finance Minister AMA Muhith and also the Awami League leader said: “The prime minister has complained about the illegal assets of her (Khaleda Zia) family as there is enough information behind her and she can prove it.”
