‘Terrorist’ killed in Jessore ‘gunfight’

An alleged terrorist was killed in a reported gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Kashipur Noahati Refugee Para area of Jhikargachha under the district on Saturday morning.
The deceased is Palsar Babu, Major Zia, a commander of Jessore-6 camp, has confirmed.
He said: “Tipped off that a group of miscreants was holding a secret meeting inside a house in the area, a team of RAB conducted a drive this morning. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the miscreants opened fire on them; forcing the RAB members to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.”
Two RAB members- constable Hasan and constable Mahbub- were injured in the gunfight. Later, RAB members recovered the bullet-ridden body of Babu from the spot.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jhikargachha Police Station Abu Saleh Masud Karim said: “Half a dozen cases were lodged against him with the police station. The body of the deceased was sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital medical examination.”
