The ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia and Shimulia-Kathalbari routes in the country have been suspended caused by dense fog.
Sources from the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Aricha office have confirmed the news.
Due to dense fog at the Paturia-Daulatdia and Shimulia-Kathalbari routes, the ferry services have been halted since Friday night.
Sources said: “Different ferries in Paturia ghat and Daulatdia ghat remained stranded while hundreds of other vehicles were waiting on both sides for crossing the river causing immense suffering to the commuters.”
BIWTC Manager (marine) Md Shahjahan said: “When the dense fog is disappeared, the ferry services will resume."
“A total of seven ferries remained stranded at Shimulia-Kathalbari ghat,” he added.
