Swiss President Alain Berset today visited Cox's Bazar’s Kutupalong Rohingya camp to see Rohingya situation on the ground.
According to sources, Alain Berset has left Dhaka for Cox's Bazar at 9am today by a Swiss Federal Council Jet and reached around 9:40am there.
Earlier, a red carpet was rolled out as the President of the Swiss Confederation Alain Berset has arrived in Dhaka on a four-day official tour on Sunday.
It is the first official visit by any Swiss president to Bangladesh.
President Abdul Hamid has received his Swiss counterpart as he arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by an aircraft of Swiss Air Force around 1:14 pm on the day.
President Berset has visited Savar National Mausoleum to pay homage to Liberation War martyrs and he also visited Bangabandhu Museum at Dhanmondi to pay respect to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman yesterday.
Switzerland has already announced that the country will give an additional aid of 12 million francs ($12.9 million) for the Rohingyas.
Alain Berset came up with the announcement after official talks with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the capital on Monday (Feb 5).
