Three workers killed, six hurt in Panchagarh roof collapse

Three construction workers have been killed and six others received injuries as the roof of an under-construction petrol pump collapsed on them in Khanpukur area in the district on Wednesday noon.

The deceased are Golam Mawla Liton, 35, son of Akkas Ali of Purba Jalasi area, Babu Ali, 26, son of Yusuf Ali, a resident of Chanpara area and Saju, 35, son of Abdul Baten of Darjipara area.

The injured are identified as Tahidul Islam, 20, Toabur Rahman, 30, Rahim Uddin, 20, Mizanur Rahman, 22 and Jahangir Hossain, 35.

Panchagarh Fire Service Station Officer Niranjan Sarkar has confirmed the news.

He said: “The roof of the under-construction building of Panchagarh Filing Station collapsed on Wednesday noon, leaving nine workers critically injured.”

Of the injured, three succumbed to their injuries while they were taken to the local health complexes, police sources said.
