A Sylhet court has placed Foyzur Rahman, the prime accused in a case filed in connection with the attack on Professor Dr Zafar Iqbal, on a 10-day remand.
Judge Haridas Kumar of Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Court-3 passed the order after Foyzur was produced before the court seeking 10-day remand.
Private TV Channel News24, a sister concern of the Bangla daily Kalerkantho, has confirmed the news.
Professor Dr Zafar Iqbal’s attacker Foyzur Rahman was admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Sylhet on March 4.
Professor Zafar Iqbal, who is the head of the EEE department and a professor of Computer Science and Engineering Department at SUST, came under attack around 5pm on March 3.
After the attack, two relatives of Foyzur Rahman, the attacker on Professor Dr Zafar Iqbal, have also been detained in connection with the attack.
The detainees are Foyzur Rahman’s uncles- Fazlur Rahman, a joint-convener of the Sunamganj District Krishok League and Abul Kahar Luloi.
A case has been filed with the Jalalabad Police Station in Sylhet over the attack on Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, a renowned writer and Professor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST).
