Gopalganj bus plunge: Death toll rises to eight

The death toll from the Muksudpur bus plunge incident rose to eight as another victim died at the Bhanga upazila health complex today.

At least seven people have been killed and 29 others injured as a passenger bus plunged into a roadside ditch at Boroitola area of Muksudpur upazila on Sunday morning.

Three of the deceased were- Hasan Mia, 25, Ashim Majhi, 40 and Dipon Biswas.

Muksudpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostofa Kamal Pasha has confirmed the news.

The OC said: “The incident happened when a Barisal-bound passenger bus of Sugandha Paribahan has plunged into a roadside ditch at Boroitola area of the upazila on Dhaka-Barisal highway in the early Sunday, leaving seven people dead on the spot and 29 others injured.”

The injured were first sent to the Faridpur health complex and some of them, later, were rushed to the Faridpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment, the OC added.

“Another victim succumbed to his injuries while he was being rushed to the health complex after the incident,” the OC further said.
