Armed forces begin polling duties in 389 upazilas

The members of Bangladesh Army begun their duties this morning as they were deployed in 389 upazilas across the country yesterday, five days before the 11th general election slated for December 30.

Besides, members of Bangladesh Navy were posted in 18 upazilas across the country to hold a free, fair and credible national election.

Assistant Director of Inter-Services Public Relation (ISPR) Directorate Rezaul Karim Shammi yesterday said Army and Navy members who were deployed in different upazilas on Sunday will start their activities as striking forces on Monday morning.

The members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) will also be deployed respectively at eighteen coastal and eighty-seven border upazilas across the country with Bangladesh Air Force will keep ready with the necessary number of helicopters and transport aircrafts for providing assistance if necessary, during the election.

An ISPR press release yesterday said that the armed forces will perform their duty on important roads and highways considering the situation on the poll day.
