Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's adviser for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury (Bir Bikram) is taking part in a 3-day event entitled “Petrotech-2019” in Noida, India.
The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the bi-annual event- which is considered as Asia’s largest international oil & gas conference and exhibition.
In his inaugural speech, PM Modi, among others, pointed out India’s growing cooperation with Bangladesh in the power and energy sectors and expressed optimism that this partnership will continue to scale up.
A total of 18 ministers and 7,000 participants from 60 countries have attended this global event hosted by the Government of India.
Tawfiq-e-Elahi addressed the Ministerial Session of the Petrotech as Key Note Speaker highlighting the progress the Government of Bangladesh has made in the power and energy sectors since the Hon’ble Prime Minister assumed office in 2009.
He particularly emphasized on Government’s endeavor to ensure access to energy of all strata of the people in order to achieve sustainable development goals and need for regional collaboration to attain synergy in the power and energy sectors.
He also met the Indian Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan and hold a discussion on progress of bilateral projects. Both leaderships were in agreement to expedite these projects in order to fructify the common interests of the two countries.
