Jagannath University Mass Communication and Journalism Alumni Association (JnUMCJAA) announced its 21-member full-fledged committee today.
The full-fledged committee was formed in a get-together programme, held at the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism on the campus around 1pm.
Shah Nistar Jahan Kabir, the chairperson of the department and Mithun Miya, lecturer of the department, have respectively been selected as president and vice-president of the committee.
Sonali Bank Officer (IT) Ariful Islam Arefin and the Daily Kalerkantho (English Version) Journalist M Mahfuzur Rahman, were also named as general secretary and organizing secretary of the committee respectively.
Other members of the committee are: ‘Channel I’ Reporter Afroza Hashi (Joint-General Secretary), the Daily Amar Din Sub-Editor Md. Hannan (International and Social Welfare Secretary), ‘Channel I’ Reporter Lutfur Rahman Shohag (Treasurer), ‘Channel Nine’ Sub-Editor Samrat Anwar (Joint-General Secretary), Journalist Shovon Sultan (Joint-General Secretary), BDNEWS24 Reporter Kazi Nafia Rahman (Publicity and Publication Secretary), Saiful Islam (Office Secretary), Jagonews Sub-Editor Zobaer Ahmed (Literary, Cultural and Sports Secretary).
The JnUMCJAA also approved nine others as general members of the committee and they are: JamunaTV Reporter Akhlakus Safa, Tasnova Hossain, Apel Mahmud, Hasan Ahmed, Mosharraf Hossain, Risingbd Sub-Editor Amirul Islam, Fatematuz Zohra, Sarkar Shakhwat Hossain Anas and Sharif Mia.
In his speech, Professor Shah Nistar Jahan Kabir said: “When called, the department will co-operate with the Journalism Alumni Association to reach a new height.”
“It will enrich communications among us,” he adds.
Speaking in the programme, Mithun Miya said: “The newly formed committee will work with everyone to build the groundwork for this association.”
With four batches finished the post-graduate from the department, the academic activities of the university’s Mass Communication and Journalism department was started from the academic session 2008-09.
