Progotishil Chhatra Jote (PCJ) has sealed off the main entrance of the Arts Building at Dhaka University protesting the recent attack of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on the general students of the university.
Progotishil Chhatra Jote, a combine of left-leaning student organization in the country, is observing the countrywide strike at all educational institutions protesting the BCL attack on students.
At one stage of the strike today on the Dhaka University campus, they took position outside the Arts Building around 7am and later they brought out a procession in the campus.
During the strike, the students, teachers and staff of the university have to use the back door of the building and other entrances through the proctor’s office and the dean’s office to reach classrooms and offices, this morning.
Samajtantrik Chhatra Front President Imran Habib Rumon announced the strike programme on Wednesday, a day after the leaders and activists of BCL assaulted the demonstrating students.
At least ten Dhaka University students received injuries when the leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of the university unit attacked them on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident took place on the campus when the activists of the ruling party’s student wing have stepped in to rescue the Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman, who has been besieged by a group of students.
