The authorities of Chittagong University have suspended its former assistant proctor Anwar Hossain Chowdhury over the death of Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Diaz Irfan Chowdhury.
The university authorities came up with the decision today, 55 days after Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, an assistant professor of the university, was sent to jail by a court on December 18, 2017.
Sociology Department Chairman Professor SM Monirul Hassan has confirmed the suspension.
University Registrar Professor Dr Kamrul Huda has issued a letter on Sunday (today), suspending Anwar Hossain Chowdhury from the university temporarily, to be effective from December 18, 2017.
On December 18, last year, Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, assistant professor of Sociology Department of the university, was sent to jail after he surrendered before a court in Chittagong, in a case filed in connection with the murder case of Bangladesh Chhatra League central leader Diaz Irfan Chowdhury.
Diaz Irfan Chowdhury, an assistant secretary of the central BCL committee, was found hanged from the ceiling fan at his residence near Chittagong University on November 20, 2016.
