At least 30 students, including the proctor and assistant proctor of Jahangirnagar University, have sustained injuries as the law enforcers allegedly attacked the demonstrators of quota reform movement on Monday.

Proctor Shikdar Md. Zulkarnain and Assistant Proctor Golam Mortoza of the university have been injured when they tried to return the students from the agitation programme around 12pm.

Of the injured, some students have received primary treatment at the university medical center while 20 others have been sent to the Enam Medical College and Hospital for treatment; our Jahangirnagar University correspondent has confirmed the news.

“We have tried our best to prevent the students from blocking the Dhaka-Aricha highway but they continued their demonstration and a clash erupted at the main gate area of the university, leaving 28 students injured,” Proctor Shikdar Md. Zulkarnain said.

He further said: “We have sent them to Enam Medical College and Hospital for treatment and the university authorities will supervise their medical treatment.”
