Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Tuesday warned that the actions would be taken against anyone found guilty over the death of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College’s student Aritree Odhikari.

The minister came up with the warning while visiting the college this morning.

Condemning the incident of suicide, the minister said: “Actions will be taken against anyone found guilty behind the student’s suicide.”

While visiting Viqarunnisa Noon School and College’s Bailey Road branch the minister also announced a three-member probe committee will be formed to probe the incident.

Two separate probe committees have also been formed over the suicide of a ninth grader of Viquarunnisa Noon School and College.

Meanwhile, Viquarunnisa Noon School and College Principal Nazneen Ferdous announced the formation of another three-member probe committee. The committee was asked to file the report within the next three days.

Aritree Adhikari, daughter of Dilip Adhikari, and a ninth grader of Viquarunnisa Noon School and College, allegedly committed suicide at their Shantinagar residence in the city yesterday after being rebuked by teachers for using a mobile phone during a test.

According to family sources, around 12pm on the day, the girl closed the door of her room at their Shantinagar residence, and hanged herself from the ceiling fan with a scarf.
