One of the most anticipated films of the year, 'Sanju', a biopic of Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt finally hit the screens on Friday. Starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead, the film has been piquing the curiosity of the audience ever since it was in news.
'Sanju' had a phenomenal opening yesterday and has set off fireworks at the box-office. The film has apparently even surpassed the collections of Salman Khan's 'Race 3' on it's Day 1.
According to a report on BoxOfficeIndia.com, 'Sanju' opened to a massive Rs 34 crore at the ticket windows on Day 1 and is expected to earn more moolah over the weekend.
Director Rajkumar Hirani has carefully paid attention to the nuances and showcased on celluloid the highs and lows of Dutt’s life through Kapoor, who nails an array of looks as he depicts the senior actor over the years.
Apart from absorbing Sanju's mannerisms and acing his act to a perfect ten, Ranbir's varied looks in the film also became a talking point. According to reports, RK used to sit from 3 am in the morning to get his make-up (prosthetics) done for a 7 am shift.
When quizzed about the most difficult part from Dutt's life that he had to portray, Ranbir opened up saying, "The most challenging part for me was playing Sanjay Dutt’s teenage years when his mother passed away. For me, my mother is my biggest fan and she even liked 'Bombay Velvet' and therefore being an actor, it’s our job to portray every emotion perfectly on the screen."
