At least 27 people have died and many injured after a bus skidded off a bridge and fell into a river near Dabi in Rajasthan this morning.
"27 people have died and five injured after a bus fell into Banas river in Rajasthan's Swai Madhopur district," a senior police officer told Press Trust of India.
Police have reached the spot to carry out rescue operations. Injured were rushed to Sawai Madhopur hospital.
“Twenty-six bodies have been recovered. Rescue operations are underway to find any survivors,” said Subhash Mishra, Circle Officer of area, according to news18 reports.
Injured passengers were being treated at a hospital nearby.
The bus, travelling from Sawai Madhopur to Lalkot, reportedly broke through the bridge wall. It was not immediately clear how the driver lost control of the bus.
