Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said that Pakatan Harapan will have a “small Cabinet” with only important ministries, and hopes to announce the Cabinet lineup on Saturday.
“We will be having a full presidential council meeting tomorrow (May 12) to name names and ministries, and to fill these ministries immediately,” said Dr Mahathir at a press conference on Friday, according to The Star Online in Malaysia.
However, he announced the 10 core ministries as: Finance, Home Affairs, Defence, Education, Rural Development, Economy, Public Works, Transport, Multimedia Science and Technology, and Foreign Affairs.
Dr Mahathir said that each of the four parties in Pakatan Harapan - Parti Amanah Negara, DAP, PKR and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia - will have their respective meetings on Friday to put forward candidates for ministerial positions.
