Bengal Foundation has cancelled the Bengal Classical Music Festival 2017 as the organisers failed to manage the venue confirmation of the sixth edition of the popular event.
The announcement came from a press conference held at The Westin Dhaka on Sunday afternoon.
A press release stated that the much-anticipated event has been cancelled this year as the organisers could not get the allocation of Banani’s Army Stadium, the regular venue for the previous five events.
On August 31, the Army Sports Control Board (ASCB) had denied allotment of the Army Stadium from November 20-28 to Bengal Foundation, citing the arrival of the Pope to Bangladesh at the time, the release also added.
Bengal Classical Music Festival, the biggest classical music festival in the world, had been growing in popularity over the last five years.
Audiences have swelled in great numbers to enjoy the performances of the greatest artistes of Indian Classical Music.
