Noted Bangladeshi filmmaker Tanvir Mokammel and Rajshahi language hero Abul Hossain got this year’s Hrithik Ghotok Honorary Film award yesterday.
They have been awarded at a programme as a three-day long ‘7th Hrithik Kumar Ghotok Film Award and Festival’ began in Rajshahi city on Sunday, remembering the legendary filmmaker Ritwik Ghatak on his 93rd birth anniversary.
Rajshahi Hrithik Ghotok Film Society President Dr FMA Zahid presided over the inaugural festival while Bangladeshi short-story writer and novelist Hasan Azizul Huq was present there as the chief guest.
Bengali filmmaker Ritwik Ghatak is better known as an auteur whose works signify the gloom and disorder associated with the partition of Bengal.
The renowned filmmaker was born in 1925 in Dhaka and moved to Kolkata during early 1947.
