Rescued cubs get shelter at Bangabandhu Safari Park

The four cubs-- two of lion and two of leopard--which were rescued yesterday while being smuggled to India, have been taken to Bangabandhu Safari Park in Gazipur.

The cubs reached the Safari Park around 4am on Tuesday, said Md Motaleb Hossain, In-charge of Bangabandhu Safari Park.

Earlier on Monday, police have rescued the four cubs from a Prado in Jessore Sadar upazila while being smuggled to India.

The law enforcers also captured two persons--Kamaruzzaman Babu, 31, and Rana Mia, 28-- and seized the Prado which was being used for the smuggling.

Jessore Police Super Anisur Rahman said: "Acting on a tip-off, the law enforcers stopped the Prado in the town's Chachra area around 10am and rescued the cubs. The cubs were being taken to the capital's Uttara area for smuggling those to India."

The cubs are kept at the police line till filing the report on Monday evening.
