One of the suspected militants, who was killed during a Rapid Action Battalion operation in the capital's Tejgaon area on Friday, has been identified.
After a thorough investigation, the members of the elite force have identified one of the deceased as Mejba Uddin, son of Enamul Haque, of Comilla, said Rab Legal and Media wing Deputy Director Major Raisul Azam.
The Rab official made the disclosure while addressing a press meet in the capital on Sunday, two days after three alleged militants were killed in a Rab operation.
Earlier, the Rab officials informed that all three deceased were the members of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh.
Acting on a tip-off, the law enforcers conducted the operation early Friday and later recovered three bodies of the suspected militants from inside the alleged den named “Rubi Villa.”
The alleged extremists reportedly tried to blow up the floor keeping a grenade on the stove and filling their room with gas while the Rab members were conducting the raid.
The Rab members later recovered three suicide vests, 16 detonators, three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and two pistols from the floor of the six-storied building where the suspected militants holed up.
A case has been filed in this connection on Saturday.
