Dr Rijana Abdulla of the Maldives, who is currently affiliated with the Maternity Hospital at Thapathali, Kathmandu, had come to Bangladesh to meet her husband. She was returning to Kathmandu in the same aircraft which crashed at the Tribhuwan International Airport at 2:18 pm on Monday.
While dozens of fellow passengers perished in the crash, Rijana is one of the few lucky passengers who managed to survive, and that too with just minor injuries. Talking to the journalists from the bed of KMC Hospital, she said, “I feel like I have been given a new life.”
Following the accident, loud wailings could be heard at the KMC hospital, which was crowded with the relatives of the victims. Eleven of the victims are currently undergoing treatment at KMC Hospital at Sinamangal. Eight dead bodies of the victims have been kept there.
Likewise, the other victims are receiving treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Norvic International Hospital, Grande International Hospital, Medicity, Nobel and Om Hospital.
