Verdict in Ekram murder case today

A trial court will deliver the verdict in Fulgazi upazila parishad chairman Ekramul Haque murder case today.

Earlier on February 13, Judge Aminul Haque of District and Session’s Judge Court fixed the date on completion of the arguments from both sides.

The court also cancelled the bail of 22 accused and sent them to jail.

Of the 56 accused, these 22 persons were on bail, 14 are already in jail, nine failed to appear before the court after being released on bail, 10 are on the run and one Ruti Sohel was killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion.   

Ekram, also the president of Fulgazi upazila unit of Awami League, came under attack by armed miscreants in front of Bilasi Cinema Hall on May 20, 2014.

The attackers intercepted his microbus and fired at him from very close range and then set fire to the vehicle. They left the scene after confirming Ekram's death on the spot.

Ekram's brother Rezaul Haque Jasim filed a case against BNP leader Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury Minar and others with Feni Model Police Station on May 21, 2014.
