Renowned writer Prof Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, who was stabbed by a youth at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) on March 3, has been released from the hospital.
The noted science fiction writer was released from Dhaka Combined Military Hospital (CMH) on Wednesday morning, 11 days after he was attacked.
He directly left the hospital for Sust around 11 am.
While returning to his work, he said: "Even though I need to make further visits to the hospital, I am quite well now. And I'm not afraid at all. I will meet my students on the same stage where I was attacked."
"I would like to let you [journalists] know that the world is beautiful and we all should spread love among people. Only love can make the world more beautiful," he added.
The attacker, Foyzur, 25, stabbed in the head of Prof Zafar Iqbal from behind with a sharp weapon at Mukta Mancha on the campus around 5:30pm while the writer was enjoying a programme.
He was rushed to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital immediately after the incident.
Later, he was taken to Dhaka Combined Military Hospital (CMH) following the direction of the prime minister for proper treatment.
The attacker was caught red-handed and given a good beating on the spot and handed over to the police.
