A Dhaka court here today fixed May 17 for submission of the investigation report in the case filed over the murder of secularist writer-blogger Avijit Roy.
As the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case failed to submit the probe report on the scheduled date today, the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Golam Nabi fixed the new date.
Earlier, a court in Dhaka fixed April 15 for submitting the charge sheet in the case filed in connection with the gruesome murder of writer and blogger Avijit Roy.
Some assailants hacked Avijit Roy to death at Dhaka University area after Avijit and his wife came out of the Ekushey Boi Mela on February 26, 2015.
Avijit’s father, Ajay Roy, later filed a case against unidentified assailants with Shahbagh Police Station.
On November 6, 2017, the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit, a special unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, arrested a man in this connection. The detainee is Sohel alias Sakib.
Before Sohel, a total of eight Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) members were held by Detective Branch officials and were sent to jail.
The arrestees were Shafiur Rahman Farabi, Sajeb Ali, Aminul Mallick, Julhash Biswash, Jafran Hasan, Abul Bashar, Sadek Alim and Bangladeshi origin British citizen Tauhidur Rahman.
