1 shot dead in Badda Awami League infighting

At least one person was shot dead and five others received bullets when two groups of Awami League locked horn in the capital's Badda area on Sunday.

The deceased is Kamruzzaman Dukhu, Beraid union chairman and also the cousin of Badda Police Station unit Awami League General Secretary Jahangir Alam.

According to the police source, there was a long-standing dispute between the supporters of Jahangir Alam and another local leader Md Faruk.

The supporters of both the faction locked horn around 5pm today following the dispute over establishing supremacy in the area, leaving 15 people injured, six with bullets.

Dukhu succumbed to his injuries at the capital's Apollo Hospitals.

Contacted, Badda Police Station OC Kazi Wazed said: "Being informed, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control."

None has been arrested in this connection till writing the news at 8pm.
