Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today inaugurated the two-day long 29th central council of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of Awami League, this afternoon.
The premier has inaugurated the two-day long BCL council at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan around 4.05pm.
BCL President Saifur Rahman Sohag and General Secretary SM Jakir Hossain were present, among others, during the inaugural ceremony.
Necessary preparation has been taken to make the BCL council successful when the council ground is aesthetically arranged.
All of the aspirants were lobbying with former BCL leaders and other national-level leaders of the AL for posts in the upcoming committee. According to BCL office, as many as 325 nomination forms have been sold. Of them, 125 leaders collected forms for president post while other 200 will be competing for the post of general secretary in the council.
In this year’s council, Jagannath University (JnU) Chhatra League activists are ahead not only in terms of lobbying but also for capabilities.
The leaders from the university include the central deputy library secretary Saifullah Ibn Ahmed Sumon, central deputy environmental affairs secretary Surshanjan Ghosh, BCL JnU unit General Secretary Sheikh Joynul Abedin Rassel, JnU unit Vice-president Apel Mahmud and M M Nazmul Hasan.
Bangladesh Chhatra League began its journey on January 4, 1948, with the fundamentals of education, peace and progress in the country.
