Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday said she had already delivered her decision in the Parliament on the quota issue.
The prime minister came up with the remarks after attending the cabinet meeting in the Secretariat today.
Sheikh Hasina said: "Even though I assured demonstrators of my stance in favour of abolishing quota system, the protesters are threatening unnecessarily in an irrational way. It will take some time to issue gazette notification from the ministry."
Earlier, the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina started at 10am where Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed and Health Minister Mohammad Nasim were present among other members.
Students and job seekers have been observing their pre-scheduled demonstrations across the country demanding quick issuance of gazette notification on quota system from Sunday.
