Ramadan: Moon Sighting Committee to meet this evening

The National Moon Sighting Committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday evening to look over moon sighting reports to ascertain the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan.

Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman, and also the chief of the National Moon Sighting Committee, will preside over the meeting to be held around 7pm at the Islamic Foundation conference room at National Baitul Mukarram Mosque in the capital.

If people sight the moon anywhere in the country, they have been requested to inform the committee by dialling telephone numbers 9559493, 9559643, 9555947, 9556407, and 9558337 or faxing - 9563397 and 9555951.

If the moon is seen in the Bangladesh sky tonight, the month of Ramadan, the lunar month of self-purification through fasting and abstinence, will be started from tomorrow.
