Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had practiced journalism in his student life.
She came up with the disclosure while addressing a bi-annual conference of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFJU) in the capital today.
Speaking at the programme, the premier said: "I already have formed the 9th wage board for the journalists which will be implemented soon. Journalism has some specific principles and ethics which should be followed by all newsmen."
About the press freedom, Sheikh Hasina said: "During the regime of BNP, the voice of the journalists was strangled. Awami League ensured the freedom of the press in the country."
"I have celebrated the 37th anniversary of my political career with Awami League. But unfortunately, I did not get enough support from journalists during the crucial moment of the country," she added.
