Three alleged drug peddlers were killed in a “gunfight” with the members of Rapid Action Battalion at Bagdah under Abhaynagar upazila of Jashore early Saturday.

The deceased are—Habibur Rahman alias Habi Sheikh, 38, son of Abdul Bari, Abul Kalam, 47, son of Nader Ali Morol and Milon Kashari, 40, son of Sattar Kashari, of the upazila.

Confirming the information, Rab-6 Company Commander Zahid said: “A patrol team of Rab raided on Payra-Noapara highway to recover drugs early Saturday. Sensing law enforcers’ presence, the drug peddlers opened fire at them from a motorcycle, prompting a retaliation that triggered a gunfight.”

“At one stage,  Habi, Kalam and Milon received bullet injuries on the spot. Doctors declared them died when they were sent to the Abhoynagar Health Complex,” he added.

Rab claimed to recover a magazine, bullets, and four hundreds bottles of Phensedyl from the spot.
